Hey Guys! Amy here….Just wanted to personally thank you for stopping by my new website to check things out. It is still a work-in-progress so overlook the mess as I rearrange and transition.
So, here are some bits of information you may or may not know about me…here we go.
I'm a Kentucky girl through and through. Go Cats! When the weather is warm I love to tie a scarf around my hair and feel the wind blow my troubles away. I've always had my own kinda style or so I've been told. I'm a salon redhead with hazel, green eyes and olive complexion. A tube of red lipstick has always been my friend. I've been told I should have been born in a different era. I'm a creative girl, not really sure how it happens, it just kinda flows out of me that way. Creating is like therapy for my soul. My favorite hobby is to find an old piece of the past, like an old brooch or piece of furniture, and turn it into something useful and full of life again.
My mom calls me a free spirit, my dad calls me his little heater. I guess that means I'm not afraid to take chances and I'm a warm snuggler. My parents were hard workers. My dad was a singer/musician and my mom was a teacher/seamstress. I always remember hearing music from my dad and falling asleep to the hum of moms sewing machine. I grew up in a loving home with my 2 sisters, who have remained my best friends since birth. It's nice to raise our kids together even though we are many miles apart. The best part about having sisters is having someone to talk to when we have mom questions or just need some support. I can't go a week without hearing their voices. I'm grateful for my parents and sisters.
I have been married to my honey for 17 years. We were high school sweethearts, you know, he's still my sweetheart today. This guy stole my heart back in 1996 and hasn't let go. He made me laugh on our first date and we've been laughing ever since. He is the hardest worker and most dedicated husband and father I've ever known. I'm so happy to have him in my life. We have created 4 wonderful children, 3 girls and 1 boy. Watching them grow are the happiest days in my life. Everyday our house is filled with laughs and fights and cries and hugs and fights and temper tantrums and punches and kisses and…did I say fights? Oh dear, I am getting paid back for fighting with my sisters, that's all I can say! With 4 kids in 10 years, It's always eventful. At the end of the night, they always hug and kiss and say they love each other, even if I force them to do it right now.
I have been a photographer for 8 years. It's a way I can create and stay on my toes. Every session is always in a different place, with different people and different perspectives. It's honestly the most rewarding job. After much thought, I've decided to take my business in a little different direction. I'm focusing the business on women. I can relate to women easy because… I am one.
I was blessed to have both my Momaws growing up and was beside them as they passed away in 2013 and 2014. All I could think about was how I wish I'd learned more from them to pass down to my kids. I want to photograph this for you. I want to show the power we women have, the bonds we make and the history we need to tell. This world is hard on us, we are our worst critics. The media tells us our bodies need to be a certain way to be considered attractive. As a mother and a woman, I don't believe the media. I want to build the confidence of my daughters and other women to help them see the beauty in themselves.
So there ya have it! These are the reasons I'm focusing my business on womens portraits. Weddings, Bridals, Boudoir, Birth, Moms and their (grand)children, Women over 50, etc. This doesn't mean I won't photograph the family or new baby for my loyal clients. It just means my heart is traveling a little further. I'd love to bring you with me on this journey. Won't you join me?
